KLSCM 2019
Silara Akses Sdn Bhd was appointed to design and install a pedestrian walkway for the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2019 (KLSCM19) which was held at Dataran Merdeka. The first objective was to provide a pedestrian’s crossing between Sultan Abdul Samad Building area and Dataran Merdeka without obstructing event route along Jalan Raja. The second objective was that the structure should be able to cater up to 100 people at a time to smooth out the crowd flow.
Due to Jalan Raja being an important road for traffic, we had only 24 hours total for road closure for the installation & dismantling process. Our team succeeded to install and dismantle the structure within 12 and 6 hours, respectively without usage of cranes and purely manual handling. We installed a 2.5meters wide bridge spanning about 22 meters long across the event route. The 2 tonnes structures were manually lifted 4 meters off the ground using sets of chain blocks.
The whole marathon event went successfully dismantling of the structure was done on the same day of the marathon and road was open to traffic before 6pm.
