ALUMINIUM TOWER WITH CANTILEVERED PLATFORM AT LRT 3 STATION

The LRT Shah Alam Line, or LRT 3, previously known as the LRT Bandar Utama–Klang Line, the LRT Bandar Utama-Johan Setia Line, or simply the LRT Johan Setia Line, is a medium-capacity light rapid transit line that will serve the Shah Alam and Klang regions on the western side of the Klang Valley, Malaysia.

SASB was briefed to provide a few sets of Aluminium Cantilever Scaffoldswith with a 1.8m wide structure and a circa 1.5m length cantilever platform for the installation of wall cladding panels.

The small space beside the track area means we need to design something sleek but sturdy to withstand the load of workers and tools. To achieve this, a Single Width (SW) Aluminium tower frame was used as the main scaffold structure in this narrow space.

Aluminium towers are advantageous for this purpose of installation since they are light and easy to handle and install as compared to conventional scaffold systems. The savings in terms of labour costs are especially significant when the structure needs to be moved to different locations along the station. The loading capacity of the platform was designed to be up to 200kg per square meter, as per the requirements of the EN 1004 standard.
